Quick Maps allows you to search for locations within a website that you're currently visiting. While not a problem on websites that don't have much text, this Google Chrome add-on can help you quickly locate locations without having to open up another tab to view a Google Chrome map. This virtually eliminates the need to copy and paste addresses into another form when you just want to see where the place is located. Additionally, there are two options reviewing the maps either through a pop-up window or by instructing Quick Maps to open a new tab.

The add-on requires no technical ability to use. It is easy to install using the Google Chrome extension manager and seems to take few system resources. This is an add-on that won't slow down your browsing activity. For any addresses that it doesn't automatically detects, you can highlight and address and right click the address to manually search for the address in another country. Otherwise, you only get results from the United States, England, Germany and Spain.

When using the pop-up version, it does have a tendency to get in your way. The pop-up menu appears on top of the current browser window, which can obstruct your view of the webpage. If you want to prevent this activity, you can either click the full-size map option on the bottom right corner of the screen or change the settings so that it only opens maps in a new tab. Either option will allow you to you the full webpage in its own window. The right-click context menu includes a "Search With Quick Maps" option. If you select this option, then the map will open in a new window.

The actual map has two tabs that allow you to select either a Matthew or a satellite view. You can also use the handy search field to enter in address manually. Overall, this program provides great functionality and won't get in the way of your regular browsing habits. The add-on integrates seamlessly into Google Chrome and when you're not using it you won't even know it's there. Since the context menu does only support a limited number of countries, you can use the search bar to edit the country listed to search in the proper location. The add-on is available free of charge. It doesn't install any advertising or other promotional materials.
